We switched RV’s (we are nuts!) and left Sunday, July 21st! We had to make up time due to leaving later than expected. We drove 728 miles and 14 hours! Landed at an Ohio rest area at 4:20am. Pretty cool thing they have self pay RV spots with electric hook ups right there at the rest area!
Monday, July 22nd we drove 345 miles and made it to our reserved spot at Fisherman’s Corner in Hampton, Illinois. It is an Army Corps campground on the Mississippi River and very nice. We stayed there two nights.
The next travel day was much better and we made it to Cherry Glen, another Army Corps (COE) campground in DesMoines, Iowa on July 24th. Two days there as well. Had to move to a different site which was super easy to do on the Recreation.gov app. The site I originally reserved was a bit hilly. An added bonus was we were able to see my niece Katy and her daughters who live about a half hour away! Oh and Molly!
We have been fans of American Pickers and learned we were only a few miles from their location so when we left on the 26th we checked it out!
While there we visited the Buffalo Bill Museum down the street! Tom made sure he had his Buffalo Bills attire on seeing as the Bills were named after this guy!! 😅
July 26-28 we landed in Alma, Nebraska at our last COE - Methodist Cove campground. Very nice! It was pretty hot! Colorado does not have any COE’s so it will be state parks. We found a nice church in Alma to attend mass too.
Very nice lake - Harlan County Lake. Lots of people with boats! I guess when you live in the middle of the country lakes are pretty popular!
Onward to Colorado and a new blog! 👋
