Right after Mother’s Day we set out on our 4th adventure in our Phoenix Cruiser! Destination: Grand Canyon and the Mighty Five in Utah!

Traveling across the country is always an interesting journey with the condition of roads, traffic and construction but we managed to stop at a Cracker Barrel in Mansfield, Ohio on day one (in the rain), Carlyle Lake COE in Illinois on day two, Heyburn Lake COE in Kellyville, Oklahoma on day 3, Lone Mound Ranch in Shamrock, Texas on day four, Sierra Blanca Brewery in Moriarty New Mexico on day five, and Homolovi State Park in Winslow, Arizona on days six and seven. We could not miss standing on the corner of Winslow, Arizona!

We also stopped at amazing Petrified Forest National Park on day six. Tomorrow we head to Trailer Village at Grand Canyon!

Left to right: Carlyle Lake site and sunset, drove by St Louis arch, stopped at the Oklahoma welcome center, Heyburn Lake COE sign, and Lone Mound Ranch was a little disappointing but still an adventure!

We enjoyed the Sierra Blanca Brewing Company in Moriarty, New Mexico! They had a huge parking lot, friendly servers, a Mexican food truck and a pretty beer garden. I love their pecan beer! Safe to say we dropped some cash there. They are part of RV Overnights which is similar to Harvest Hosts. They allow you to park at this place and ask you to patronize their business.

These were taken from the car window while on the road! Crazy scenic!

Friday we landed at Petrified Forest National Park and Painted Desert. Truly magnificent. About 250 million years ago these trees were quickly covered by sediment or volcanic ash before they had a chance to decay. Over time minerals like silica seeped into the wood and replaced the organic material making it rock like. The trees maintained their shape and logs are scattered all over the park. The different colors depended on what mineral seeped into the wood. The Painted Forest was also along the route with amazing sculptures and colors. You can’t help be in awe of the wonders of our world.

While in Winslow we just had to stand on the corner that was made famous by The Eagles song “Take it Easy.” Made us want to sing the song! 🎶

Homolovi State Park in Winslow is our last stop before arriving to Grand Canyon. I guarantee the pics from there will be mind blowing! Until then Happy Trails!
