#1 Zion National Park
We went from looking down to looking up! We originally were only going to visit Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks after Grand Canyon but we changed our minds and decided to visit all five and we are so glad we did! We recommend it!
Upon entering Zion we had to buy a ticket to go under a tunnel. They only allowed one way at a time. It was a bit of a wait but not bad. It was cool!
We stayed at Watchman Campground which was in Zion and very convenient for getting around. We arrived on my birthday so I was treated to a gorgeous view and a birthday dinner and cake!
Zion, Grand Canyon, and Bryce are all part of the Colorado Plateau. Much tectonic activity took place millions and millions of years ago and the uplift created many of the mountains. Time, erosion and water were the artists that carved the landscape. There are many layers of rock made up of various minerals and each layer reacted differently to the weather. The parks in the Colorado plateau are connected and make up the Grand Staircase. There is so much geological stuff happening there that I can’t begin to understand it. Suffice to say it’s pretty amazing. It’s also ever changing!
We rode the shuttle to several overlooks and went on a river walk. The next day we rode our e-bikes on the same road. It was so beautiful.
Zion dazzled us! Next up is Bryce Canyon. Whatcha got Bryce?
Happy trails!
