Our Grand Canyon Adventure!

We arrived in the afternoon on May 19th and rode our e-bikes to get a quick look and oh my what a sunset! We stayed at Trailer Village Campground which is in the National Park. They had lots of paved paths for e-bikes which helped because we did not have a car with us.
There were quite a few elk in the park. They seemed unphased by us.
We stayed four full days and that seemed like enough! We rode the shuttle to the overlooks and also rode our bikes. We were very impressed with the shuttle service.

Each overlook told a different story. Eleven indigenous tribes live in and around the Grand Canyon today. The National Park Service respects those tribes and tells their story.
Every overlook gives a different perspective of the millions of years of erosion. It’s hard to believe the Colorado River was the sculptor.

Other forces contributed to the carving of the Grand Canyon. The uplift of the Colorado Plateau helped the river to carve aggressively. Then rain, wind and the dry climate over millions of years created what we see today. And it’s still evolving! There are many layers of rock and each layer has a story to tell!

This has been a life long dream to see this magnificent natural phenomenon. It truly was a spiritual experience for both of us.
The North Rim
Next we ventured to over 8,000 feet to spend a few nights at the North Rim. Only 10% of Grand Canyon visitors go to the North Rim.
While at both South and North Rim we enjoyed a few ranger talks. We love ranger programs. If you ever visit a National Park please take the time to thank them. They are having a tough time these days. Tom even participated!
Our adventure has only just begun! Next on the journey is Utah’s Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands!
